Now sitting lower, wider, and lighter built upon a new global platform that also underpins the latest Civic and CR-V, the latest 10-the generation Accord mid-size saloon has just been launched in the UAE.

Available in four different trim levels starting with the Accord LX Turbo from AED94,900 and going up to the AED139,900 Accord Turbo Sport, the car offers customers the choice of 10 exterior colours including two new arrivals, Platinum White Pearl and Radiant Red Metallic.

Key to the 2018 Accord are the new turbocharged engines, which with their more compact dimensions allowed for more passenger space within the wheelbase which itself is 55mm longer in the 10th generation model. In total occupants get 48mm of extra legroom, and 70 liters additional cargo volume.

But back to the good stuff – the 2018 Accord range kicks with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder mated to a CVT, worth 198 horsepower which is more than 10 horsepower over the outgoing 2.4-litre naturally aspirated engine. Additionally the little 1.5-litre makes more torque too, 260Nm from 1,600rpm compared to the previous 247Nm at 3,900rpm.

The headlining 2.0-litre engine that’s related to the Civic Type R’s turbocharged lump is only available in the top spec 2018 Accord Turbo Sport. Your 140 grand get you 247bhp at 6,500rpm and 370Nm of torque from 1,500rpm.

Additionally the Actors Turbo Sport includes LEDs, some bright dual exhausts, a new 6.0-inch head-up display, plus a 10-speaker sound system. You also get other kit such as rain-sensing windscreen wipers, plus a whole bunch of safety equipment like lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and collision warnings.

Finally the flagship Turbo Sport model also comes with a range-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission, which manages to weigh in nine kilos lighter than the outgoing Accord’s six-speed auto.

Prices for the complete range in the UAE are as follows: AED94,900 for the 1.5-litre LX Turbo; AED 104,900 for the 1.5-litre LX Turbo Sport; AED119,900 for the 1.5-litre EX Turbo; and the 2.0-litre Turbo Sport at AED139,900.
