Review Summary:

Manufacturer’s bring the coolest of concept cars to international motor shows, and a couple of years later when the production ready version surfaces, there are less similarities in the concept and production version than are between salt and pepper. Thankfully, this hasn't been the case with the Kizashi.

Aggressive exterior styling.

Price point could deter potential buyers from considering it.

Literally translated as “something great is coming”, the sounds like a character out of the popular game Tekken, and rightly enough destroys its competitors as far as looks are concerned. A mesh grille up front, a boot decklid that has been shaped intelligently to double up as a spoiler and large multi spoke alloys, come together to give birth to a car that puts rivals such as the Renault Safrane to shame.

Materials aren’t of the highest quality, with leatherette covering the few parts of the interior which aren’t ransacked by hard plastics. Thankfully though, it all looks a lot nicer than it feels, with a neat dashboard, slim A/C vents and a sporty instrument panel. Although head and leg room are no issue for rear seat passengers, seating more than two adults in the back could prove problematic, due to the high transmission tunnel.

For a car with as much sporting pretension as the Suzuki Kizashi, it is bound to appeal to the younger generation, and based simply on that, the 10 speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system that comes in the Kizashi, is no surprise. Delivering 425 watts of aural enjoyment through two front midbass speakers, two front tweeters, two rear coaxial speakers, a front centre speaker and a subwoofer, the Kizashi is sure to satisfy the youths need to listen to blaring rap music while cruising the streets.

On offer

176 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque is what the 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine puts on the road through a front wheel drive layout. Mated to a CVT transmission, the Kizashi sprints from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. Promising to provide a thrilling ride is the addition of a sport suspension set-up that comes standard.

At nearly AED 90,000 the 2015 Suzuki Kizashi is not cheap, in fact, it’s hella expensive when you consider the Renault Safrane only costs AED 80,000. With not much more than a butch exterior and rocking sound system, the Kizashi does seem to lean towards being overpriced.
