Review Summary:

When it’s time for manufacturers to bring out newer generations of their models, us motoring people cringe at the fact that something which is outright ghastly, could very well be just around the corner. Thankfully, in 2011 when Renault announced the all-new Safrane, they hadn’t let us down.

The 2014 is simply stunning and with a price tag lower than that of its rivals, there's no reason you'd even consider them.

Shoddy interior quality

The previous generation model of the Renault Safrane was what we’d call a Karama copy of the Nissan Altima. It was dull, boring, uninspiring and a whole lot of other words I’d rather not use. The new generation model, however, is stunning, oozing with sex appeal and without a doubt, the most striking vehicle in the brand’s lineup. I’m not entirely sure if it’s the seductive headlamps or the way those tail lamps plunder your gaze as it drives by, all I know is, the 2014 Renault Safrane is most definitely a head turner.

2014 Renault Safrane side

Pull open the door and you’re in for a sensory shock; with an abundance of plastic, microscopic buttons and a multimedia screen that is smaller than most modern mobile phones, you almost instantly question if the interior was designed by the same team that did the exterior. Thankfully, interior space hasn’t been sacrificed and neither has boot space, as the Safrane trumps the Nissan Altima with 477 litres of boot space as opposed to only 436 litres in its Japanese rival.

The audio boffins at Bose have worked hard at creating the ultimate aural experience in the Safrane and that can only be a wonderful thing. The custom built 10 speaker sound system has been produced after taking into account interior space and promises to offer a rich and authentic sound experience irrespective of the volume.

What’s on offer?

Three engine choices are what the 2014 Renault Safrane has to offer; a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder, a 2.5 litre V6 and a 3.0 litre V6 that tops the charts. While 137 horsepower is what the puny 2.0 litre engine puts out while being mated to a CVT transmission, the 3.0 litre ups the ante to an impressive 229 horsepower and ditches the CVT for a standard 6 speed autobox.

Summing it…

You could pop down to the Hyundai showroom and pick up a Sonata for AED 70,000, or you could drive to the Nissan showroom and get yourself an Altima for AED 77,000 but why would you? Because the 2014 Renault Safrane costs just AED 66,000, and provides so, so much more than its Korean and Japanese rivals do.

I am planning to buy Renault Safrane 2014 from used car showroom in Dubai.
    1. Parts are available in Dubai easily or not
    2. How is maintenance high value or low value.

Please advice me as soon as possible.

This car is too good and powerful. This care makes me feel that everyday I am driving a new car. Very smooth, spacious, good interior. But only a small issue, recently the some error messages are appearing on LCD, Check Airbag. I have taken to Arabian Automobiles but unfortunately they couldn’t fix it. Some times this message appears while driving.

Although I am very happy with Renault safrane.. This car makes no reason going for expensive cars.
