2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado revealed

Posted by Phill Tromans at Sep 17, 2009 10:35 AM

The 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has finally gone on show and will come to the Middle East before the end of the year.

The Australian and European versions of the new mini-Land Cruiser have been unveiled. Middle Eastern specifications have yet to be announced, but don’t expect them to be radically different to these.

The Land Cruiser Prado is one of the Middle East’s most popular SUVs and interest in the new model has been and will continue to be intense.

Toyota Australia revealed images of a pre-production five-door 2010 Prado, while another version went on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show under the European Land Cruiser badge. The larger Land Cruiser that Toyota sells in the Middle East is badged Land Cruiser Amazon in European markets.

The 2010 Prado is longer, wider and lower than the previous model and features improved performance, and a range of driver-assist technologies, as well as plenty of features for off-roading.

2010 Toyota Land Cruiser PradoDesign-wise, the SUV has a more aggressive look and better aerodynamics. It’s 80mm longer, 10mm wider and 15mm lower than the current Prado, giving it a more purposeful stance. It features front and rear spoilers as well as front spats, underbody covers and deflectors while the grille is an evolution from the current model, with more depth and texture.

The headlights have a 3D look to them and the ‘belt line’ of the car when viewed from the side is higher. The lower bumpers have been trimmed to make the overhands look shorter for a more agile look.

Additionally, the door mirrors have LED indicators integrated into them, and LEDs are also used in the rear lights. The rear window wiper is housed inside a rear spoiler.

Sincerely hope that the new folding third row of seats does not compromise fuel tank capacity. As a regular traveller in remote areas of Australia, the class leading touring range has been a key point in my purchasing decision.

You have a good point there Allan, I too consider the additional fuel capacity as one of the key points but these folding third row of seats is also present on the vehicle which has the stepney tyre stored underneath the vehicle which leads me to beleive that it will retain the option of the additional fuel tank. >;o)
