Renault reveals new Mégane CC ahead of Geneva debut
Renault has officially unveiled the next-generation Mégane Coupe-Cabriolet (CC) ahead of its world debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The 2011 Mégane CC is the sixth and final addition to the new Mégane series. Like the current generation CC the new model also features a folding hard-top but this time around it is a glass roof which can be folded up or down in 21 seconds automatically. While the new glass top lets plenty of natural light in, Renaults says that it provides better thermal insulation as well as reducing wind noise. The 2011 Mégane CC also features a fixed-glass wind deflector behind the rear head restraints to reduce wind buffeting. The new Mégane CC comes with two petrol engine options; a 1.6-litre 110bhp unit and a 2.0-litre 140bhp engine. To compensate for the lack of a fixed roof, the new CC gets a stiffer chassis and more rigid body. Other changes from the current generation CC include new powertrain options, a new electric power steering system, new equipment and Renault's new EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) automatic transmission. No news yet on when or if the new car will come to the Middle East, but rest assured we'll keep you posted as and when we hear.
