Ford has revealed more details of the upcoming 2011 Edge crossover.

Apart from the revised exterior styling and a revamped interior, Ford has upgraded the new Edge’s powertrain as well.

The 2011 Edge Sport will feature the same 3.7-litre V6 engine from the 2011 Mustang but with 305bhp instead of the 265bhp V6 motor found in the existing model. The new V6 engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift.

The engine is however expected to offer lower fuel economy as compared to the Mustang V6 owing to the crossover’s bulk and aerodynamic differences. To match its performance credentials the 2011 Edge Sport will also feature a firmer suspension and exclusive 22-inch alloy wheels.
