2009 Nissan Sunny
The Sunny has been the butt of many jokes about blandness over the years, but the latest version is modern and inoffensive, if rather unremarkable. Not really aimed at those looking to make a statement, the four-door saloon is geared towards affordability and practicality – a budget way to transport up to five people in decent levels of comfort. The latest Sunny is actually a rebadged version of the Korean Samsung SM3 and has been around since 1996. Its looks are unlikely to set the pulse racing, although it’s far from ugly. The front end has an air of Volkwagen Passat about it, and it’s equipped with 14-inch steel wheels or option 15-inch alloys, front fog lamps on the top level model and halogen headlights. Two trim levels are available. The PE version has fabric upholstery in grey or brown while the SE adds a more complex design, including a suede-like effect. The higher model also includes a more adjustable driver’s seat, an overhead storage bin and a rear seat armrest, as well as remote central locking.
Other features include electric windows and an optional CD player on the SE model. Fully automatic air conditioning is also on option on the SE.

The Sunny represents entry-level motoring. You don’t get much as standard, but remember – it’s cheap, which in these challenging economic times is a major plus.
