Behold, the fastest Lotus yet! And it looks pretty amazing to our vision apparatus. The newly-revealed Lotus 3-Eleven 430 packs 430 supercharged horsepower, hitherto found only in the Exige Cup 430. It’s the lightest car from the manufacturer yet, which means performance is suitably mental.

The benchmark zero to 100km/h run is dispatched in a shade over three seconds, while the top speed is a supercar-worthy 290km/h. Predictably, there is more effective aero addenda to ensure the Lotus 3-Eleven 430 stays planted when the right pedal makes acquaintance with the floor. In fact, the total weight exerted by air at V-max is a crushing 265 kilograms.

However, it isn’t just big wings and splitters; there is proper boffinry happening underneath the sheet-metal. You get a state-of-the-art traction control system, some pretty large brakes and a mechanical limited-slip differential. And naturally, the act of changing gear is undertaken manually via a six-speed stick shift. A slush-box would be heresy in this context.

Now we come to the bit that makes this Lotus even more special, The Hethel-manufacturer will only build 20 of these crazy machines, which is well reflected in its asking price of, oh well, about half-a-million dirhams or so.

There are plenty of optional extras to choose from though, which will push that price tag up by a fair bit. Things like a removable steering wheel and titanium exhaust system… This or the Porsche 911 Turbo?
