Fair enough it’s not Geneva, or Paris, or Frankfurt, but the 2017 Dubai motor show is shaping up to be quite something — what makes a motor show special, of course, is a global debut or two, and old-hand GMC knows the trick well.

For the Dubai motor show starting next month from November 14, GMC is preparing a world premiere no less to attract the crowds, in the form of a concept car exploring a potential special edition model for production.

Other than that however, ‘Jims’ is keeping shtum on the concept so we don’t even know what model it is — the brand has been present in the region since the Thirties though, and GMC is highlighting the fact by reminding us of all its special 4×4 and 6×6 vehicles developed specifically for desert use that earned it the name and reputation it enjoys around here. Going with that, then, we’re expecting something wild from GMC when it comes to that concept, preferably with more than just four measly wheels. Wouldn’t it be cool to have something like the Mercedes 6×6 G-Class, sans the prohibitive price tag?

Closer to reality GMC will also show off the 2018 range at the Dubai motor show, highlighted by the new 2018 GMC Terrain and redesigned 2018 Yukon Denali.

The former signals GMC’s styling going forward into the future, and introduces a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the mix.The latter, like the related Cadillac Escalade we reported on recently, gets a new 10-speed automatic transmission replacing the old eight-speed, and a carried-over 6.2-litre V8 engine worth 420 horsepower.
