The folks from Solihull have just revealed the first images of their updated 2018 Sport line ready to make its global public premiere at the Dubai motor show kicking off in November.

Range Rover has overhauled the whole Sport line for the 2018 mid-life facelift (this second-generation model launched back in 2013), and added a new plug-in hybrid P400e model to the mix. This, the brand’s first ever plug-in-hybrid, is worth 400 total system horsepower and 640Nm of torque, with a zero-emissions electric-only range of just over 50km, and a fast-charging time of less than three hours. The P400e combines a 300 horsepower 2.0-litre four-pot with an electric motor and it’s good for 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds.

Anyway, that one isn’t coming to the region… The company’s Middle East office tells Auto Middle East the local 2018 range will start off with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged option as is currently available, going up to a supercharged V6 and finally the supercharged V8 flagship, all petrol powered without any hybrid bits included. The Range Rover Sport SVR is still the daddy going into the facelift, now with 25 extra horsepower for a 575bhp total and a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds, which makes it the fastest Range Rover yet being two-tenths quicker than before.

The big cosmetic changes up front are pixel-laser LED headlights flanking a redesigned grille, and a new more aggressive bumper. The interior received arguably more updates, featuring the company’s new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10.0-inch screens dominating the dash. The Sport additionally comes with a gesture sunblind that responds to a wave of your hand in order to open or close.
