The 750-horsepower V10-engined Engler FF superquad, claimed to be world’s fastest quad, is making its global premiere at 2017 motor show

engler ff dubai motor showThe 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is shaping up to be quite a gig, not least with the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar coming, with its 11,000rpm redline, but also the competing Aston Martin Valkyrie designed by racing genius Adrian Newey who contributed to all of Red Bull’s and McLaren’s recent successes. Both cars will square up in Dubai, each being basically as close as you can get to an F1 car for the road.

On the somewhat more attainable side of things however, if only slightly so relatively speaking, is the new Engler FF superquad claimed to be the world’s fastest. And that claim is very easy to believe when you consider the FF’s frankly scary specs: it’s capable of 350km/h and 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds. The bonkers machine is powered by, believe it or not, a 5.2-litre V10 engine you’d normally find in the back of a Lamborghini or Audi R8.

Only here, it produces even more power than stock, a whopping 750 horsepower to motivate just 750kg. That’s a better power to weight ratio than the 1,500hp Bugatti Chiron, and in fact that’s equal to the Valkyrie’s 1:1 horsepower to kilo ratio.

Designed in Italy, but to be hand-built in the UK (and dreamt up by a Slovakian) only 50 examples of the Engler FF will be made out of composite materials like carbon fibre, as well as plenty of titanium, magnesium and leather. The founder of the company, Viktor Engler, says he started working on developing his superquad back in 2000, and it was already deemed ready now, fully certified for legal road use.

As such the price will reflect the ridiculousness of the Engler FF, which will cost as much as a proper supercar, and way more than any recreational ‘toy’ vehicle like a Can-Am Spyder costs.
