New practically-minded Custom is on sale in the US next month with a price tag starting from AED165,000 but will it come to the Middle East?

In the Middle East the Tahoe currently starts with the LS trim from AED161,000, going up through the range to the headlining Tahoe LTZ model.

Over in the States however, Chevy just launched a 2018 Tahoe Custom for $44,995 (AED165,000), which comes standard with a towing capacity of 2,990kg going up to 3,900kg if you spec the optional max trailering package.

The 2018 Tahoe Custom is based on the LS model, powered by the familiar 5.3-litre V8 making 355 horsepower and paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, driving either the rear wheels or all four if you pay extra.

Standing out from the rest of the range, the 2018 Tahoe Custom includes 18-inch painted aluminum wheels shod with all-season tyres, and a chrome grille. However when you look inside, you notice the third row of seats is missing in the Custom because it’s been chucked out to free up more cargo space, 54 cubic feet in total actually.

Other equipment included in the Custom is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, standard rear-view camera, remote start, plus safety systems such as forward collision warning, intelligent high-beam lights, lane keeping assists, and automatic low-speed emergency braking.

There is a bunch more kit thrown into the Custom for the 2018 model year of the Tahoe in the US, which makes the car sort of a loaded Tahoe with painted wheels, for buyers who want all the towing and cargo capacity available but without having to go for the “full-options” model.

In America the 2018 Tahoe Custom will be on sale from next month, and we’ve reached out to Middle East for word on any local distribution plans.
