Additionally new bushings and suspension components are meant to improve comfort and provide a more communicative ride.

There is a host of driver assistance systems and safety features, including a parking assist and a rear-view camera. As expected from the Koreans, occupants get just about every option included, and there is an available 7.0-inch infotainment screen compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

In America where the 2018 Sonata was designed, the market has a choice of engines with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder putting 245 horsepower down to the 18-inch wheels topping the line-up. In our region Hyundai is offering a choice of naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre or 2.4-litre four-pots, but you’ll be happy to know the turbo motor also makes it into the range in the Middle East.

The flagship Sonata Turbo, then, accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 7.5-seconds thanks to an eight-speed automatic transmission and 360Nm of torque from 1,350rpm.
