After three consecutive months of dropping fuel prices the good times are finally coming to an end this summer as the UAE announces new petrol prices initiated from this month.

A litre of 95 Special now costs AED1.78 and a litre of 98 Super is AED1.89, which is a price increase of three fils.

Motorists in the UAE have been enjoying some of the lowest petrol prices in years, although prices still can’t compare to this time last year when a litre of 98 only cost you AED1.73 in August of 2016. That represent nearly a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in fuel prices.

A 50-litre tank will now cost you a total of AED94,50 for Super and AED89 for Special.

Diesel, too, is up by four fils this month with a litre set at AED1.88, or 12 fils more than this time last year. The UAE’s Ministry of Energy says the increase is in line with fluctuating global crude oil prices.

If you regularly fill up, say, 50 litres of fuel to top up your tank, you can expect to pay on average 1.5 to 2.0 percent more than before for your petrol, as a 50-litre tank will now cost you a total of AED94,50 for Super and AED89 for Special.
