has scooped itself with spy pictures of itself, or rather, its upcoming next-generation Vantage

British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin has quite a story for us today as the Gaydon marque gave new meaning to auto-spying, sneakily managed to acquire of itself, or more specifically its latest-generation Vantage .

The leak was of course orchestrated by the company’s own press department, releasing these spy shots to the world’s automotive media to spur anticipation for the next Vantage. As if there wasn’t enough expectancy already, seeing as the current Vantage has been going on since 2005 when the Henrik Fisker-designed model first surfaced with its Jaguar-sourced 4.3-litre V8 engine. Twelve years later and the design still passes muster, however the next-gen model seems to be inspired at least up front by the styling on Aston Martin DB10 made for some British chap called James Bond.

In the Vantage application you’re likely looking at 500 horsepower to begin with, before all the model variations start coming out and edging power levels closer to 600.

The latest V8-engined Vantage should shed its camouflage at the Frankfurt motor show this September, premiering with a twin-turbocharged motor that’s also been introduced in the flagship DB11 line-up. AutoMiddleEast.com will test drive the DB11 next month so we’ll let you know how that V8 will shape up for the Vantage as well.

Sitting on the new DB11’s aluminium platform (adapted for the shorter car), the Vantage will not only make use of Mercedes-Benz’s infotainment system like the DB11, but also AMG’s 4.0-litre force-fed engine that you find in stuff such as the AMG GT and the new S63 super-limo. This lump makes around 600 horsepower when AMG feels like it, but in the Vantage application you’re likely looking at 500 horsepower to begin with, before all the model variations start coming out and edging power levels closer to 600.

With the lighter architecture and turbocharged grunt with maximum torque from as low as 1,500rpm, the next Vantage should sprint from zero to 100km/h in the low four-second range or somewhere in the high threes, topping out at over 300km/h, with the option of an eight-speed automatic and possibly even a manual transmission.

When the new goes on sale as a 2018 model you can expect prices to start from about AED500,000.
