2016 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta | new car review
Pros
* Stunning looks
* Powerful engine
Cons
* Quite frankly, not applicable!
Looks
Good. Very good. So good, in fact, that even the toughest criminal could be forgiven for falling to his knees and crying at its beauty. Ferrari don’t drop too many clangers in the design department, and whoever is responsible for the F12 Berlinetta’s swooping coupe-body and unique rear design is worthy of an award.
Feels
There is not much in the way of subtleness with the F12, after all, it’s a Ferrari. The steering wheel is inspired by that of a Formula 1 car, with its traditional switches and flappy-paddle levers. Everything feels exactly how a Ferrari should: mad.
Engineering
The F12 comes with a 6.3 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, and as you would expect, it is massive. But Ferrari has much to smile about since this engine won the International Engine of the Year Award in 2013. Everything about this car is engineered to perfection.
What’s on offer?
As standard, the F12 comes fitted with a 6.3 litre V12, and the vital stats look pretty good… It produces 740hp and will deal with 0-100kp/h in 3.1 seconds. Ferrari also claim that it will reach a top speed of 341kp/h, and that is jolly fast. Then of course there are a whole raft of options which will skew the price. Prices begin at around AED 1,199,000.
Summing it
It’s far more difficult reviewing cars like this than you would imagine. The plus points are easy; it’s fast, it’s stunning, and it’s a Ferrari. But the negatives are far harder to address. Price doesn’t matter, so we can’t complain about that. Ferrari is a brand for the richer classes, and when you’re paying over AED 1 million for a car, you kind of expect perfection. The F12 Berlinetta is just that.

I bought one 2 months ago… Words can’t describe this incredible car. It does a lot more than the label describes. My only niggle is the poor road holding in the damp wet weather..
