Land Rover recently announced that it will be carrying out a on Range Rover models manufactured between 2013 and 2016, and on Range Rover Sport models manufactured between 2014 and 2016 to fix a glitch in the door latch system that could cause them to open unexpectedly while driving.

Out of the 65,352 vehicles being recalled globally, 11,700, or 17% of those affected, are within the UAE.  Sources claim that of those affected in the region, 7,532 are Range Rover models, while the remaining 4,188 are Range Rover Sport models.

“Land Rover has identified a concern with the affected vehicles, where customers have reported the door is unlatched when in the closed position and no warning of an unlatched condition on the dashboard. Some customers have reported that one door has opened while the vehicle was in motion,” the company said in a newspaper ad announcement.

Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors, distributors for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in the UAE, have begun contacting customers and requesting them to bring their vehicles to service centres for a complimentary software update to correct the glitch.

This recall comes along with a second recall on the same day affecting 492 Land Rover LR4’s manufactured from August 15th 2012 to September 18th 2012 for sunroofs that can detach or fly out due to poor assembly. The manufacturer says incorrect primer is to blame for the sinking sunroofs, causing the adhesive not to adhere to the roof assembly correctly.
