2015 Infiniti Q70 | new car review
Pros
The Infiniti Q70 is one of the most stunning mid size sedans out there
Cons
The price for the top of the line variant is a bit steep
Looks
The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is refreshingly curvy; right from the carefully sculpted downward sloping hood, to the creases that run the length of the body, the bodacious curves of the Q70 take pride in making the Merceds-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series look dull and uninspiring.
Feels
More than just a dressed up Nissan Maxima, the Q70 houses supple leather on the seats, an analogue clock on the dashboard and wood veneer on the door panels. With materials of the highest grade and features like Bose speakers integrated into the seats, there aren’t many other mid-size luxury sedans that encompass luxury quite the same way.
Engineering
In a luxury sedan, isolating sounds from outside the cabin is of utmost importance; the technical boffins at Infiniti are aware of this and thus have created something they like to call Active Noise Control. Ideally, it utilizes a microphone in the ceiling to identify undesirable low-frequency engine sounds and neutralizes them with sound waves of the opposite phase. The result, is simply a quieter cabin that offers a more peaceful driving experience.
What’s on offer?
Under the hood, the Infiniti Q70 is available with a 328 horsepower generating 3.7 litre V6 unit. Mated to a 7 speed automatic transmission with downshift rev match, it puts the power to the road through the rear wheels and dispatches a 100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds.
Summing it…
You could get your hands on a BMW 5-Series for AED 204,000 and blend in with everyone on the road, or, you spend AED 155,000 on a Lexus ES and walk away smiling you bagged a bargain. But when you could spend AED 149,000 and get your hands on a striking vehicle that is bound to make you stand out, it’s an obvious choice, it’s the 2015 Infiniti Q70 you’d want.
