2015 Nissan Armada | new car review
When it comes to the Armada, the designers at Nissan really do come off as a lazy bunch. For the past 12 years, the Armada has changed only so little, that it looks almost identical to the model that first surfaced back in 2004. With concealed rear door handles, a slightly unique window line, and a chrome outlined mesh grille up front, it’s a design that’s certainly not ghastly, but not very creative, either.
Inside, it’s all quite imposing. The space between the front seats, the larger-than-life centre console, the gear shifter and the unusual steering wheel. However, the one thing that should have been bigger than it currently is, isn’t – the infotainment screen. Apart from that, it’s all quite decent, with seating capacity for up to 8 individuals and a boot space of 567 litres with the third row seats in use.
A number of sensors make their way into the Armada to control various features. A tire pressure monitoring system ensures all four tires are filled with the optimum amount of air, while the automatic headlights, and sensors at the front and rear of the vehicle, add a little bit of extra convenience and safety.
What’s on offer?
The 2015 Nissan Armada is powered by a 5.6 litre V8 that churns out 320 horsepower, 533 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission. The basic SE trim retails for AED 169,500, however, the better equipped LE variant with 20 inch wheels, wood trim and a 9 speaker entertainment system comes in at AED 187,000.
The Nissan Armada is a slightly dated offering from the brand, and with nearly an AED 25,000 premium over the Ford Expedition, it’s ridiculously overpriced as well.
