2015 Aston Martin Zagato | new car review
Looks, features, power
You may or may not be able to get one
The 2015 Aston Martin Zagato is a car inspired by the Aston Martin-Zagato partnership of yesteryear, which started with the DB4. Only available as a coupe, the Zagato is based on the Vantage. Made from aluminium by hand, we think it looks great. Its design is heavily inspired by the 1960’s model, with the optional, simplistic, lightweight rear wing confirming as much.
The interior features an almost psychedelic design to it; even the roof material will send you into a trance. The gear lever is chunky to match the steering wheel; it really is something unique.
The Zagato is made entirely by hand, hence its rareness. And for that reason alone you just know that this car will be something special. High-end materials are aplenty, and the ultra-light aluminium underbody means that this car will light up the race track.
What’s on offer?
Like so many Aston Martin’s, there is only one version of the V12 Zagato on offer, and it costs North of AED 800,000. The engine belts out 510hp and will be going flat-out at 305kp/h. Fuel economy is woeful, as 24 litres will give you 100km. But here’s the main thing; there is a very good chance that you might not even be able to get one. Aston Martin UAE only makes them if there’s an order, so you’d better hurry.
Well, it’s an inspired race car that looks drop-dead gorgeous, is beautifully hand-crafted, very powerful, hysterically un-economical, and potentially not even available. We’re not sure we can sum this one up very easily, but if we were to give it a try, we’d say something along the line of “this dream car may be just that: only a dream”.
