Review Summary:

There aren’t many Grand Tourers in this world and for those lucky enough to be the market then there isn’t much in the way of options; but the options laid out are fabulous; crowned by the .

Pros

Great looks, great interior

Cons

Expensive to run

Looks

What is not to love about the 2015 Aston Martin DB9? It is arguably one of the most beautiful cars on the market today, with that traditional Aston Martin grille leading the charge. The body swoops smoothly from front to back, wrapping an exquisite back-end. If you ever dreamed of designing a car when you were a child, I’ll bet you had something like this in mind.

Feels

It’s hard to sum up quite how the DB9 makes you feel; like James Bond I suppose would be the most accurate. I only sat in it in the showroom, but I was looking for cubby holes that might pop open to expose a big red ejector seat button, or perhaps the secret champagne supply. It feels like a dream!

Engineering

New struts in the engine bay deliver a stronger structural core, and increases rigidity by about 30% over the older model. This obviously improves handling. Strangely, however, Aston Martin has, by making it more rigid, actually shaved 15kg off the dry weight. So you can bet your last dollar that it’ll be faster too!

What’s on offer?

The DB9 is powered by the all-new AM11 engine, the most powerful in the car’s history. With a capacity of 6.0 litres, 0-100kp/h is achieved in 4.6 seconds with the help of 620 Nm of torque. Of course all this doesn’t come cheap, and you’ll need AED 900,000 to join the party. A Carbon edition is also available, but no accurate price information was available at the time of writing.

Summing it…

“The name’s Fullard, Martin Fullard”. Replacing my name with your name, that’s all you’ll be saying as you stare at yourself in the rear-view mirror of a DB9. Perhaps I’m biased, because I adore this car, but I genuinely can’t think of one fault with it. Ok, it’s expensive, but so are its rivals. It’s the subtlety of it that impresses me most, and should impress you, too.
