2015 Peugeot RCZ | new car review
Great looks, almost akin to that of an Audi TT
Rear space is almost non-existent.
Peugeot’s all have the same bulbous look these days, which frankly makes them look overweight and sluggish. But it’s amazing how different it looks when bolted to a 2+2 seater sports-coupe body. Anyone would think it was an Audi TT from the side…
All is well inside the 2015 Peugeot RCZ. While the interior is not awash with racing pedigree, it is comfortable enough to make you smile. Obviously space is not in abundance, and in fact almost non-existent in the back, but it has enough charm to remind you that you’re in a coupe.
The first thing you notice in the RCZ is the lack of space for rear passengers. Those with heads and legs may prefer to get a taxi. But those who decide that they would like to own an RCZ will care little for other passengers. Firm suspension is sure to provide an exciting ride. It comes with plenty of features, including keyless entry, automatic rain and light sensors, and an active rear spoiler.
What’s on offer?
Under the hood, resides a 1.6 litre VVT turbo charged straight-4 engine that emits 163 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission, the French coupe directs its grunt to the front wheels to accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and onto its 213 km/h top speed.
We like the Peugeot RCZ; it is a nice-looking coupe. But there is one major problem; it is only a few thousand Dirhams cheaper than the market-leading Audi TT. Telling your friends that you have an Audi will impress them, tell them you drive a Peugeot and they will think something’s wrong with you. Of course they’ll be wrong to assume that, because it is a good car. But would you honestly buy one over a TT? I’m not so sure.
