2015 Lamborghini Aventador | new car review
Phenomenal design both inside and out.
Explaining to a logical person why they should invest in one, is nearly impossible.
Where to start? Sharp angles are aplenty on the 2015 Lamborghini Aventador, from the front diffuser to the headlamps; you won’t find a curve no matter how hard you look. It is the atypical supercar, unique in every way.
As any man will tell you, more buttons mean more fun. More buttons mean that it is better, regardless of what they’re for. The centre console in the Aventador is covered in buttons, and it all feels as mad as it looks.
Like the Gallardo, the Aventador uses a unibody space frame, which actually is a very clever way to build a car. But whereas the Gallardo uses aluminium, the Aventador is made from that wonderfully expensive material: carbon fiber. In fact, the only thing that doesn’t come in carbon fiber on this car, are the tyres.
What’s on offer?
The Aventador is available as either a roadster or a roofed-beast. In the middle there is a 6.5 litre V12 engine that, if stood vertically, would probably have enough power to launch the car into outer space. Because the LP-700-4 weighs only 1575kg, thanks to its carbon fibre frame and 690 horses, it can get you from 0-100kp/h in 2.9 seconds. Just play that in your mind. But, as you would expect, all this fun comes at a price, and for the gentleman’s sum of AED 1,580,000, you could get yourself a lovely basic model. Add on further for the options.
Cars like the Aventador are like modern art; you can’t justifiably love them or hate them because they are an expression of mind. You can’t look at the Aventador and complain that it only seats two people and that you can’t fit your Mother-in-Law in there without a kerfuffle. So what if it’s cramped inside, so what if fuel economy is beyond ridiculously bad, you’re not going to be buying one if you’re watching the pennies anyway. This car is the result of a wild acid trip, and to look at it logically is a complete waste of time. You will see it in history books for years to come, so enjoy it now so that you can tell your grandchildren “I was there”.
