Review Summary:

Having first found its way on the back of an automobile in 1934, the Superb nameplate was used until 1949, when production came to a halt. Currently in its second generation, the Superb serves as the brand’s flagship model and faces competition from the likes of the French Peugeot 508 and Japanese Nissan Maxima.

Pros

Quality of the materials used in the interior are brilliant.

Cons

Pricier than its rivals.

Looks

The 2015 is different, it’s a breath of fresh air in a segment of the market where designers are more comfortable with sticking to the tried and tested route. While the sedan’s physique exudes a sense of regality with its almost Bentley-like swooping C-Pillars, the estate model is a little more subtle with its ways. Irrespective of the body-style you opt for, you can walk away assured that you’ve just bagged a very, very good looking car.

Feels

Sharing bits and bobs with the Volkswagen Passat, their partnership is evident within the cabin. With wood trim along the dashboard and door panels, a neat centre stack and soft leather that is completed by a feeling only Volkswagen owners would understand, there really isn’t anything to complain about. Comfort isn’t skimped on either, with 157mm of legroom available to rear seat passengers, the 2015 Skoda Superb can transport four people in supreme comfort, effortlessly.

Engineering

The 2015 Skoda Superb is fitted with a fair bit of gizmos, an electronic tailgate, cornering lights and an adaptive front lighting system that varies according to driving conditions, are just some of the features that set the Czech automobile apart.

What’s on offer?

Powered by a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine, the Superb is good for 200 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. Match that up to a 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission and you’re looking at demolishing a 0 – 100 km/h run in 7.7 seconds before hitting its 240 km/h top speed.

Summing it…

When lined up against the competition, the 2015 Skoda Superb is pricier than its French and Japanese rivals. While the Japanese and French bear a lower price tag, the Czech bags points for innovation and its design too. It’s simply Superb.
