Review Summary:

The has been a mainstay of the brand for many years now, and it’s easy to see why. A premium roadster with good looks and great options, is it any wonder?

Pros

Great looks and price for a premium roadster

Cons

Basic features as standard, options are expensive.

Looks

What is there not to like about the 2015 Porsche Boxster? Boasting subtle curves, it comes across as classic roadster with its lack of fussiness. The headlamps are stylistically ideal, and the sculpted body that joins the rear clusters is remarkable in its own right. A truly good-looking car.

Feels

There are enough curves and colours in the interior to keep you smiling for your entire journey. It’s functional in that classic Porsche way, yet still feels young and, dare I say, trendy. In the UK, the Boxster has a reputation as a bit of a “Mid-life Crisis Mobile” but so what? If you want to feel young then there is little else out there that will achieve that in such a cool way.

Engineering

The Boxster comes with an electro-magnetic steering system. In a stroke of technological genius, this means that the system is only active when the steering wheel is turned, and is not powered continuously like in other cars. The net result is, pleasingly, greater fuel economy.

What’s on offer?

There are four principle versions of the Boxster available, with the self-titled Boxster being the entry model at AED 208,900. It emits 265hp and will propel you to 100kp/h in 5.8 seconds. In the middle there is the Boxster S, which starts at AED 230,900. This version emits 315hp and will reach a top speed of 279kp/h. Following which, we find the Boxster GTS with 330 hp and an AED 258,400 price tag. Topping the order we find the Boxster Spyder, and at AED 287,600 punches out 375hp and will get you up to 100kp/h in 4.5 seconds.

Summing it…

We like the Boxster, in all its guises, and certainly the entry model is no slouch. We like the S, too, because it comes with a few more tricks up its sleeves and the figures make for impressive reading. But the GTS? Well, it comes with lots of toys, but  is only fractionally quicker than the S model, and costs around AED 30,000 more. If you’re considering a 2015 Porsche Boxster, then in all honesty there is nothing wrong with just the entry model – provided you kit it out with a few options.
