Review Summary:

It all began in 1963 when Maserati put a race engine into a luxurious 4 door body and established the segment, the luxury sports sedan. Today, the sixth generation, 2015 is in production and boy does it look good!

Pros

* Wide choice of engines on offer.
* Phenomenal exhaust note.

Cons

* Significant amount of plastics on the interior are a let down.

Looks

With an increased wheelbase now measuring in at 5.27 meters and an increased track at 1.6 meters, the 2015 Maserati Quattroporte is definitely larger than its predecessor. Trademark features such as the Trident logo on the C-Pillar, along with the instantly recognizable front grille and distinctive side vents are all present. On the whole though, the 2015 Quattroporte is quite understated and lacks the flamboyance found in other vehicles produced by the Italian manufacturer.

Feels

On the interior, Maserati have packed in an alcantara roof, soft leather power seats and ample leg room for rear passengers. Available as either a 4 or 5 seater, the Quattroporte is sure to cater to a larger audience. On the downside, there is a significant amount of cost cutting evident with the use of hard plastics for the wood trim and along the dashboard.

Engineering

Being the large, premium and flagship model of the Maserati range, the Quattroporte utilizes a Skyhook system that electronically controls the dampers to offer a more comfortable ride. Additionally, the servo-assisted hydraulic steering box is believed to minimize the artificial steering feeling found in most modern cars.

What’s on offer?

The 2015 Maserati Quattroporte can be had with either a choice of V6s, or a V8 twin turbo unit under the hood. Horsepower  and torque figures for the V8  stand at 530 and 710 respectively. On the other hand, the entry level 3.0 litre V6 is rated at 330 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, while the V6 found in the Quattroporte S spits out 410 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.

Summing it…

With prices upward of AED 379,000 the 2015 Quattroporte is significantly more expensive than its German rivals. With an understated exterior and an interior with a reasonable amount of hard plastic, we’re not sure it’s worth the price.
