Review Summary:

For 2015, the continues with its theme of combining luxury and sporting prowess, making for a jaw-droppingly beautiful Grand Tourer.

Headlamps seem too small
Rear head room

Maserati does Italy proud. The 2015 Maserati GranTurismo features a striking back-end, with the twin exhausts poking through the middle. Swooping curves point towards the front, wrapping the headlamps. It looks every bit like a Maserati should. But if one was to be picky, however, you could argue that the headlamps are disproportionately small.

Refined luxury is aplenty in the GranTurismo. This two-door sits four people, and those in the back will have just enough space to survive medium distance trips, although taller passengers might struggle with headroom. Everything from the window switches to the indicator stalks feel like they were made by hand. Because Maserati is one the rarer car makers in the UAE, there is almost a feeling that it was made especially for you. Somehow it doesn’t feel mass produced, it all feels unique.

All the tricks that you would expect to find on a classy GT car are present, with standard equipment including Bluetooth and parking sensors. But also as standard are some more interesting features, such as colour coordinated brake calipers, active suspension, electronically controlled climate control, and a sports exhaust which is controlled via a “Sport” button!

What’s on offer?

Underneath the bonnet sits a Ferrari V8 engine, and you can choose between 4.2 and 4.7 litre displacement. The more affordable 4.2 litre version emits 405hp and 460Nm of torque. This means that it can deal with 0-100kp/h in 5.2 seconds, and go through fuel like you go through oxygen. Prices begin at around AED 425,000 and go North right up to AED 625,000. Both coupe and styling is on offer.

Summing it

When you think of what cars will provide you with a sporty and luxurious ride, I’d wager that you would probably forget about Maserati. Your list would include Mercedes, Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and so on. If you went out and bought any of these then, yes, you would be happy, but I’d love to see the look on your face when your friend turns up in a GranTurismo. Maserati is the motoring industries’ best kept secret. A brilliant car.
