All-new Kia Optima prepares for New York reveal
Could the Korean brand be onto something or are they merely pulling a fast one? Having revealed the Sportspace Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, the face and profile of the fourth generation Optima was something the world believed they’d already seen. Yet, the Koreans have opted to supply a couple of vague artistic sketches with the announcement of the new Optima that is to be revealed at the New York Motor Show.
Following its debut at the New York International Auto Show in 2010, the Optima went on to becoming the company’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for three years running. Five years later, Kia is set to return to New York on Wednesday, April 1st, for the world debut of its all-new Kia Optima.
While the sketches are a little optimistic and dare we say a little far fetched, it can be seen that the new model flaunts deeply sculpted contours along the sides, pronounced wheel arches, and an even steeper rear window than its predecessor. However, since Kia’s only revealing that the new Optima is “passionately designed and obsessively crafted”, it may be a little early to jump to conclusions.
What’s pretty certain, though, is that the Optima will be sharing its platform with the Hyundai Sonata, so we can expect to see similar powertrains carried over.
That’s all for now, folks.
