2015 Mitsubishi Lancer | new car review
Priced well, it's possibly why we see so many Lancers on the streets of the UAE.
Interior quality is a little shoddy.
Though they share the same nameplate, there isn’t a whole lot that is similar between the two as far as the exterior goes. While the 2015 Lancer Fortis is a downright economical sight, the Lancer EX receives reworked lights, alloys and a spoiler; it’s the slightly superior one you see.
Inside, it’s all standard fare with both sharing the same layout and design for the most part. A spacious and well equipped cabin is the basis, which is then adorned with a touchscreen in the EX variant and completed with illuminated dials in the Fortis.
It isn’t the most obvious thing to do and it’s questionable if it’s needed at all, but the Lancer EX does come equipped with paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel. Good or bad, interpret it as you may…
What’s on offer?
The smallest engine in the line-up is a 1.6 litre unit that produces just 117 horsepower and can be found in the Lancer EX. The Lancer Fortis takes it up a notch with a 1.8 litre engine that puts out 143 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque, however, it still falls short when compared to the 2.0 litre engine found in the EX.
The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer certainly isn’t the best looking when lined up against its competitors. It isn’t the best equipped either, but one area it does trump the competition on, is with its price. Priced at AED 46,400 to AED 62,000, it’s more affordable than the Toyota Corolla and Kia Cerato, making it the ideal choice for those on a tight budget.
