Twenty-five years after the debut of the original NSX supercar, revealed the production version of its highly anticipated successor at the North American International Auto Show. Flaunting an ultra-rigid and lightweight body, the NSX stole the show with a ferocious growl from its twin-turbocharged V6 engine that gets paired to three electric motors and a 9 speed dual clutch transmission.

Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Acura division, said: “Our commitment was to create an all-new NSX that is true to the heritage of NSX—a supercar that delivers a new driving experience, one where every part of the vehicle is respectful of the smartest part of the car, the driver.”

The body of the Acura NSX features classic low and wide proportions, an aggressive front design and tail lights that pay homage to the original NSX, but it’s more than just a styling experiment. The signature side intakes and floating C-pillars collect air to feed the mid-mounted engine, while directing airflow over the rear deck to increase downforce. Dimensionally, the production vehicle is also extended by 3 inches in length and 1 inch in width, compared to the concept model released in 2012, to accommodate the new longitudinally mounted twin-turbo V6 and 9-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

The V6 engine that resides at the heart of the NSX employs a race-inspired compact valve train and dry sump lubrication system to help lower the center of gravity. The all-new 9-speed DCT delivers instantaneous gear changes and rev-matching on downshifts. Utilizing its electric motors up front for torque vectoring, the NSX delivers handling responses that seem to anticipate the driver’s desire. Having been tested extensively on some of the most challenging race circuits, including the famed Nurburgring, we can’t wait for it to make its way to the UAE already!
