Review Summary:

Developing its own fan base over the years, the C-Class has always been a banal way to enter the Holy Trinity realm and with the stunning 2015 model that’s only set to improve.

Pros

* Exterior styling is simply brilliant.

Cons

* Having cleaned up the dashboard by replacing several buttons with a simple rotary knob, basic functionality such as changing the radio station is now a daunting task to carry out while driving.

Looks

Having taken a colossal step in the right direction from a design perspective, the 2015 has abandoned the sombre linear contours of the previous generation model, for sensuous curves that allow it to be immediately identified as the German automaker’s offspring.

Feels

In typical Mercedes-Benz flair, the interior of the 2015 C-Class is home to wooden trim, an abundance of plush leather, and an analogue clock along the dashboard. Request for the AMG styling package and sports seats, a heavily perforated flat-bottom sports steering wheel, and AMG brushed stainless steel sports pedals all become available.

Engineering

Fitted with an air freshener, a panoramic roof, and an ambient lighting system, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class isn’t exactly lacking on the tech side of things. The optional Head Up Display, however, is best left out of the feature list as with no option to increase the brightness or align it with the driver’s line of vision, it essentially requires the driver to adjust their seating around the projected display – silly indeed.

What’s on offer?

Three versions of the C-Class are available on offer, with the entry level model being the C 180 that whips out 156 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque from its 1.6 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. At the other end of the spectrum resides the C 250, which for AED 170,000 will chuck out 211 horsepower, 350 Nm of torque, and propel you to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.

Summing it…

Falling into the entry-luxury segment of the market, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class goes up against the likes of the Lexus IS and the Cadillac ATS. While its rivals from Japan and America try hard to impress, the C-Class is a natural. It will steal your heart effortlessly and it’s definitely the only one to consider.
