Review Summary:

Throughout its ancestry, the Focus has been the Swiss-Army knife of cars in its class. It is the ideal small family car with plenty of luggage space, combined with decent looks and a handsome interior. It will always be the sensible option.

Excellent looks both inside and out.

Plastic dominates the interior.

There is little new about the 2015 Ford Focus, since the current MK III version is still in its youth. It is an all-round good-looking car that closer resembles the original MK I Focus rather than its immediate, heavier predecessor; the Mk II. The tailgate swoops down neatly, and the rear spoiler adds just the right amount of sporting credence. The front just “works” as a design, and try as I may, I am simply unable to find fault with it.

2014 Ford Focus Sedan

The magic is continued on the inside, where the interior is one of the best in its class. When seated in front of the controls there is a sensation that you’re sitting at the helm of the USS Enterprise, waiting for Captain Kirk to give the orders. Everything is futuristic without being pretentious. Although all the controls are in the same place as they are on every other car ever made, Ford have managed to arrange it all in such a way that it feels fresh. From the position of the gear lever and the handbrake to the shape and angle of the air vents, it all feels hi-tech and original.

2014 Ford Focus Interior

The original Focus raised the bar with its ControlBlade independent rear suspension, making it one the best handling cars in mass production, and expect the same with the latest version, too. The new Focus is equipped with dual-zone temperature control as well as fancy options such as rear parking cameras and active parking assistance. The interior is seamless and is certainly one of the best for its price.

Ford Focus ST

What’s on offer?

There are three models of the 2015 Ford Focus on offer (including the ST), with the basic Ambiente version being the base model at AED 69,000. The basic Focus is equipped with all you need, from folding rear seats to audio controls on the steering wheel. Its 1.6 litre engine produces a decent 123 horsepower and it can reach a top speed of 195km/h. Fuel economy is good, as seven litres of fuel will get you 100 kilometres up the road. Models come as either a , saloon, or estate.

Summing it…

The 2015 Ford Focus looks fantastic both inside and out, and on paper it certainly doesn’t disappoint. It is small enough to dart around the city, yet big enough to cruise on the open roads. Stylish, dependable, robust, affordable, and practical; what more do you want from a car?

For the maintenance cost, is it more pricey than Chevrolet Cruze? Any idea how much it will cost? Planning to buy a hatchback but I’m still deciding to choose between Chevrolet Cruze hatchback or Ford Focus.

      Hi Dennis,

Hope you’re well and are having a great day.

Maintenance costs (service + labour at the dealership) for Chevrolet models is clearly highlighted on a chart that is displayed at all service centres around the UAE.

For Ford, I’m not too sure if the service centres have a chart per se, but I’m pretty sure they should be able to provide you with some insight for how much regular servicing would cost.
