2015 Lincoln MKZ | new car review
* Priced extremely well for what it brings to the table.
* Innovative features keep it interesting.
* Quality of materials is a let down.
Upon first glance, the 2015 Lincoln MKZ is a very handsome machine. With the classic split-wing grille upfront and numerous lines flowing along the body, the MKZ is quite a head turner. On the rear end, a single LED taillamp bar is present and gives the MKZ a very distinctive look. With a large rear fender, a neatly sculpted rear decklid and exhausts integrated into the rear bumper, the MKZ is definitely worth a second glance.
Take a seat in the MKZ and almost instantaneously it feels you’re venturing into uncharted territory. The lack of a gear shifter and a rather bland interior are precise first impressions. However, start the engine and everything begins to make sense. The transmission is controlled by a set of buttons on the side of the multimedia screen, while all the large plastic panels are actually capacitive touch switches used to control the A/C and radio systems. Tilt your head back and you can expect to find a large 1.4 square-meter glass roof that slides open in a mere 10 seconds.
Technology hasn’t been skimped on in the 2015 Lincoln MKZ and that is clear. Active park assist, a feature that automatically steers the vehicle into a parking space without the need to touch the steering wheel; Adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning; blind spot monitoring, and inflatable rear seatbelts are just a few impressive features that can be found on the American sedan.
What’s on offer?
The 2015 Lincoln MKZ is equipped with a 3.7 litre V6 engine that is capable of producing 300 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission, the MKZ also packs in paddle shifters behind the steering wheel to accommodate moderate levels of enthusiastic driving. Prices for the 2015 Lincoln MKZ range between AED 145,000 and AED 195,000.
The Lincoln MKZ is a beautiful machine and packs in a load of comfort, safety and entertainment features. For the price it’s being offered at, it definitely provides great value for money and is worth a look at if cars such as the Lexus IS reside outside the budget.
