Review Summary:

The , still in its second generation guise, is a fantastic looking that stands out from its rivals. If you are looking to buy a car that is a little racier, yet don’t want to fork out the money on a big sports car (or you can’t, because you’re too young), then it’s hard to ignore the 2015 . What else is there?

Pros

* Great looking car inside and out
* Relatively economical

Cons

* Circular A/C vents seem a little out of place.

Looks

The second generation TT has been with us since 2006, and with good reason; it’s a fabulous-looking car. The short overhang of the body over the wheels gives the impression that you are looking at a go-kart with doors, and go-karts are fun to drive. At the front you are treated to an arrangement seldom seen on other cars; it looks cheeky. It doesn’t look mean, or friendly, it looks like it will laugh at you if you brake too early, and maybe tie your shoelaces together for a giggle as well.

Feels

You are not going to buy the TT to take your grandmother or children to the mall, so the chances are you won’t be too worried about back seat space. But it is worth noting that should anyone ever ask you for a lift, and you already have a passenger riding shotgun in the front, then they may need their legs removed first. Space in the back is nearly non-existent.

Engineering

The TT uses the now common Audi Space Frame design, which is a lightweight aluminium chassis which improves everything from handling to fuel economy. Also, like other higher-range Audi’s, it comes with the S Tronic gearbox, designed to give faster and smoother gear changes. Boot space measures approximately 300 litres, but the rear seats can come down, doubling the space, which is handy for a car like this.

What’s on offer?

In the UAE, the 2015 Audi TT comes in three flavours: the 40 TFSI,  the 45 TFSI, and the heart pounding TT RS. The 1.8 litre turbocharged engine found in the 40 TFSI is good for 160 horsepower and makes for a sensible buy at just AED 140,500. However, if you really want to experience what makes the TT so special, you’ll have to shell out AED 247,000 for the RS variant. Pushing out 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, the TT RS will whizz you to a 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds!

Verdict

If you are looking for a good-looking sports coupe that offers great value, then look no further than the TT. In fact, I challenge you to name an alternative, and I bet you can’t. This car looks as cheeky as it is quick, and driving it will certainly make you grin a cheeky grin yourself. This is the kind of car that if it were a teenage boy, it would be looking to pick a fight with a group of older boys, just to see how it would get on.
