Review Summary:

Since its worldwide debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, the Discovery Sport has been at the forefront of many motoring enthusiast’s conversations, and for good reason.

* Exterior styling improves on the already impressive Evoque.

* Alarming amount of hard plastics in the cabin.
* Artificial air vents along the length of the vehicle could easily have been eliminated.

Taut headlamps and unmistakable LEDs give the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport a rather menacing look, one that is accompanied by a slender grille, artificial air vents along the fenders and a patch of silver trim running horizontally across the hood. Towards the rear end, the Land Rover Discovery Sport bears even greater resemblance to the Range Rover Evoque with its descending character lines and circular tail lamps.

A quick glance at the dashboard and memories of the Land Rover LR4 come rushing to mind. While beams of silver trim flank the centre console and leather blankets the majority of the cabin, there’s still an alarming level of hard plastics found on the door panels, dashboard and centre console. Yet, it’s all permissible, due to  the brand’s rugged persona.

Equipped with the brand’s Terrain Response system and a host of stability features which enhances traction and optimise throttle and braking, the Discovery Sport is more than comfortable with ditching the tarmac for trickier terrain. After all, it is a Land Rover at heart.

What’s on offer?

Powered by the same engine found in the Range Rover Evoque, the 2.0 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine pumps out 237 horsepower, 340 Nm of torque, and gets mated to a nine speed automatic transmission. Channeling power through a Four Wheel Drive system, the 2.0 litre engine propels the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport to a 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and on to its 199 km/h top speed.

Summing it…

Starting from AED 159,000, the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport slots in neatly between the more economical Audi Q3 and the significantly more expensive Porsche Macan. What’s clear, though, is that if you have even the slightest of inclinations to go and discover new paths, you shouldn’t be considering anything apart from the Discovery Sport in its class.

Excellent compact SUV in class with +2 extra foldable seats. But I am looking for 2ltr ingenium ultra refined n ultra low 119 gm/km co2 emission with grt mileage.
