Review Summary:

The Land Cruiser is a common sight all over the UAE. It is the Mr. Dependable of not just the range, but most SUV’s on the market today. Its modest styling and powerful engine range makes it the ideal car for both on and pursuits.

Good looking inside and out.

Too much plastic in the interior.

The Land Cruiser underwent several styling tweaks over the last few years, and each time the car looks that little bit better. On profile it looks big in all the right places, and the headlamps tessellate neatly with the grille. The back is complemented with a sleek spoiler that just gives it the right amount of sporting credential.

If I were to criticise one thing about the car, it would be that there is too much plastic in the interior. The passenger side of the dashboard is void of anything interesting other than a large slab of rounded plastic. It runs along the inside of the doors as well. The fascia where the multimedia system sits is arranged very smartly and the seats offer a great amount of support. Again, like others in Toyota’s portfolio, a lot of the buttons and switches are very dated.

The Land Cruiser comes with an advanced transmission which will optimise how the torque of the engine is transferred to the drive; the ideal tool for proper off-roading. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is also on offer, which will enhance comfort when tackling rough terrain. A third row of seats can also be added in the back, resulting in capacity for eight people.

What’s on offer?

The 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser comes with three engine types: 4.0, 4.6, and 5.7 litres. The 4.0 model ranges between AED 186,000 and AED 233,000, whereas the 4.6 ranges between AED 224,000 and AED 290,000. The 5.7 litre V8 VXR model begins at a staggering AED 315,000, but with that you get 362bhp and a lot of goodies. The basic 4.0 litre model emits 271bhp and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It will drag you from 0-100kp/h in 11 seconds, whereas the 5.7 will deal with it in 7.

Summing it…

The Land Cruiser is very much a standard issue car in the UAE, it is arguably a must-have tool should you have any off-road inclinations. It is still supremely popular amongst those of an off-road disposition, and will remain that way for a long time to come. Owning one will keep you in the crowd on the safe middle-ground. Ultimately the Land Cruiser has a strong, reliable history, and it reaffirms that it is a car up to any job, any size, any time.

    The manager
Toyota cars , Saud Bahwan Group
Al wattya branch, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman

Subject: Toyota Land cruiser VXR 2015 model, registration number 1741 AM
    After compliments:
I have bought the above car two months ago. At the time of the purchase I was informed that the front and rear bumper spoiler lips

Are a genuine Toyota parts which are added during the manufacturing process of the car by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan.
The car looked different than the one advertised by Toyota:

It is obvious that the car was altered and things added after it was manufactured
    This is the dealer advertisement:

After driving the car I noticed that these plastic lips affect the car performance and capabilities in terms of handling during high speed on the highway because of adverse effect on aero-dynamics which extend to affecting fuel economy, they also reduce the approach angle and departure angle which adversely affect the car off-road capabilities.
I have discovered that these plastic parts are actually added on by the dealer and NOT by Toyota. They are sold and fitted by many car accessory shops in Oman and Far Eastern countries.

On removing these parts, I have discovered that the dealer has drilled multiple holes into the body of the car, badly damaging the original body, to add cheap plastic that contain quantities of lead and other carcinogenic substances, misleading consumers by claiming it to be genuine Toyota parts. In doing so affected the car performance and capabilities.

Considering the above I would like to demand replacement of the damaged front and rear bumpers with original, genuine Toyota bumpers as manufactured without the addition of the cheap plastic lips.
I would also want an apology from the dealer for misleading information and the inconvenience caused due to the fitting of these non-genuine, cheap plastic parts.
