Review Summary:

The Camry is a mid-size sedan produced by the Japanese manufacturer and looks better than ever in its current guise.

Pros

Pleasant styling for both, the exterior and interior alike.

Cons

While pleasing to look at, the quality of materials is a slight let-down.

Looks

Calling the current generation Camry better looking than the model it replaced back in 2011, would be an understatement. Gone are the days when the Camry was an unappealing steal off the Japanese manufacturer’s showroom floor. The 2015 model shows off sharper curves, straighter edges, dual exhaust tips, a lip spoiler and an abundance of chrome on the door handles, grille and fog lamp housings.

Feels

The interior designers stepped it up a notch as well. With wood trim along the gear shifter, dashboard and the door panels, as well as steering mounted controls and a large 8″ multimedia screen, you could be forgiven for thinking you’re sitting in something a lot more premium, a Lexus perhaps? Personally, I’d like to tip my hat to the interior designers for creating an interior that is so aesthetically pleasing with not a whole lot more than an abundance of hard plastics.

Engineering

The Camry is available with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), that helps prevent the front or rear wheels slip by reducing engine power and applying brake force to the wheels that require it the most.

What’s on offer?

The 2015 Toyota Camry is equipped with a 2.5 litre 4 cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower and 235 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission, the Camry integrates Dual Variable Valve Timing to improve fuel efficiency. If you suffer from a heavy right foot, you’d be happy to know the Camry completes a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 9.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 220 km/h.

Summing it…

The Camry is one of Toyota’s cash cows and quite frankly, it would sell irrespective of what they did to it. However, the current generation Camry is genuinely good looking and with a price tag ranging from AED 86,900 to AED 104,900 it is once again a steal off the showroom floor.
