Review Summary:

Part of ’s premium sub-brand (DS), the DS4 is a five door that was incubated in the year 2010 and is based on the brand’s mainstream C4 model. Wearing its glorified insignia, the DS4 slots in neatly between the economical Volkswagen Golf and pricier Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

* Exterior and interior designs are simply phenomenal.
* Interesting set of features set it apart from its competitors.

* Overpriced is about the first word that comes to mind when describing the DS4.

Based on what is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing Citroen currently in the brand’s line-up, the 2015 Citroen DS4 sports a large honeycomb grille up front, a series of tapered contours along the sides, and a rear end that is almost certain to have you lost for words. But while the design is award worthy, the elevated stance to mimic a compact SUV is something that needs to be reworked, for it currently stands too short to be anywhere close to an SUV and too tall to be referred to as a hatchback.

Inside, it’s an abundance of full-grain leather that swathes everything from the dashboard and door panels, right up to the seats and steering wheel. Accompanied by silver trim garnishes, the well built and plush cabin is a pleasantly comfortable place to be.

The list of features on the DS4 is a rather lengthy one, with the most attractive ones being: massage seats for the driver and front passenger; an audio system with a sound processing software that allows it to be space conditioned; four ranges of polyphonic sounds for the alarms and warnings, and a colour chart ranging from white to blue for the instrument cluster.

What’s on offer?

Powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit that pumps out 156 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, the 2015 Citroen DS4 charges to a 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 214 km/h. Channeled through a 6 speed automatic transmission, power is delivered to the wheels upfront.

Summing it…

Priced at nearly AED 100,000, the 2015 Citroen DS4 isn’t cheap. If budget is your number one priority, you’d be better off settling for the trusty Volkswagen Golf, and if it isn’t, there’s no denying the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is the one to go for. At the end of the day, it’s not that the DS4 is a bad car, it’s just that it’s overpriced.
