Toyota bags Guinness World Record for Largest Off-Road SUV convoy

On 22nd March 2013, Arabian Automobiles and Enoc won the at the fifth Xplore UAE event by hosting 153 SUV’s over a commendable distance of 30 kilometres amidst the dunes of the Emirates. A little over a year later, a new record has been set for the largest off-road suv convoy, and while it is by and its distributor, Abdulla Abdulghani and Bros (AAB), it’s an uncomfortably close win.

Involving 154 Toyota SUVs and covering a distance of 34 kilometres on 21st November , the new record was set with vehicles being driven in a single file along a sand track at the Endurance Village in Mesaieed, Doha. Although an astounding 411 vehicles participated in the attempt, only 154 vehicles met the regulations set by the Guinness World Record Representative, regarding speed and distance between vehicles.

According to Takayuki Yoshitsugu, Chief Representative, Middle East and North Africa, Toyota Motor Corporation said,“We are very pleased to be able to achieve this Guinness World Record with our customers in Qatar and their Toyota vehicles. This is truly a spectacular accomplishment and the event was a great opportunity to get to know our customers better.”

The successful Guinness attempt was held under the theme “1 Nation 1 Record” and was conceived to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of AAB’s association with Toyota. All participants received certificates for participation and as appreciation for their efforts in the attempt.
