Review Summary:

The SX4 is an extremely unique car built by the Japanese marque, because not only is it built in conjunction with Italian manufacturer Fiat, but it was also used by in 2008 when they decided to enter the World Rally Championship.

Pros

Three driving modes are sure to come in handy when venturing a little deeper than the beach in the SX4.

Cons

Lack of engine choices and variants.

Looks

With the discontinuation of the sedan body style, the SX4 is now only available as a five door . However, that isn’t bad news, because the sedan wasn’t ever a looker. The five door – unlike its deceased sedan sibling – sports a leveled stance and dimensions more akin to those of a mini SUV.

Feels

With circular air vents at either end of the dashboard, the SX4 houses a simple, no non-sense centre stack with silver beams running along the sides and features controls for only what is absolutely necessary. Thanks to a wheelbase of 2,500 mm and a height of 1,605 mm, the 5 door SX4 hatchback is a comfortable place to seat up to five individuals.

Engineering

The intelligent boffins at Suzuki have integrated three diving modes into the SX4 hatchback; a 2WD mode that provides power to the front wheels and is ideal for highway cruising, a 4WD Auto mode which transmits power to all four wheels and is ideal when travelling on rougher roads or during rain, and finally, a 4WD Lock mode which provides consistent torque to both axles and is to be engaged in slippery mud or snow.

On offer

The 2.0 litre engine fitted under the hood churns out 152 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque while being mated to a CVT transmission. Expected to sip just 7.6 litres of fuel for every 100 kilometers on the road, the SX4 is practical in terms of space and at the pumps as well.

Verdict

With only one variant available, the 2015 Suzuki SX4 can be driven off the showroom floor in exchange for just AED 69,900. You’re probably thinking it’s a good deal and I don’t blame you, but you’ve most likely forgotten that you could walk away with the better looking and more spacious Renault Duster for AED 20,000 less!
