UAE recall for 2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli

Posted on Nov 5, 2014 by

has announced safety for Quattroporte and Ghibli cars in the U.A.E.  Though there has been a streak of recalls in 2014, this one in particular catches our attention. One would have expected stringent quality checks on the latest offerings from the Italian car maker.

The recall is due to ‘non-conformity’ with safety standards by Maserati. The culprit – fuel pipe – needs to be attended to. If left unattended, fuel odour is likely to seep into the passenger cabin. In a worst-case scenario, the fuel supply to the engine could be affected resulting in abrupt engine shutdown – a potentially dangerous situation.

No accidents have been reported as yet due to this issue. A meagre four cars are reported to be affected by this recall. Maserati dealers for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors respectively will replace the affected parts at no cost to owners.

Yesterday, on April 14, my 2014 Quattroporte came to a screeching grinding halt on I95 in Virginia, lucky to have been in traffic or we could have been killed. I have sent a letter to headquarters and a bunch of dealers.
I’m curious to know how they resolved your issue.

      Thanks,
      Dave in White Plains, NY

It was a big mistake buying this car. The dealer and the after sale service is pathetic. Will not advice to buy this car from the dealer in the UAE. Funny thing: when you drop off your car for service, they ask you to take a taxi and get a receipt for reimbursing the costumer later….. Seriously… other car dealers offer much better after sale service than the dealer here in UAE.

The recall of Maserati was predictable –as the car was showing signs of imperfections with the driver’s door and sunroof. Although I have not experienced the imperfections in car personally, yet the vicarious experience is enough to mouth an opinion.

Surprising how manufacturers test cars for millions of kilometres in their testing stages and yet problems seem to arise.

      Morning Peter,

Problems are inevitable; it’s just good to see manufacturers actually recalling cars for the safety of their owners. Even if this could mean sacrificing the brand name to a certain extent.
