Review Summary:

The 2015 Optima looks better than ever and wears an extremely reasonable price tag. It is further made even more appealing with its exterior styling and well laid out driver-oriented cabin.

Pros

* Exterior design speaks for itself.
* An abundance of features can be found on the 2015 Kia Optima.

Cons

* Limited engine choices restrict the Optima from the firebreather its exterior suggests.

Looks

Strutting streets since the year 2000, and marketed under various nameplates around the world, the Kia Optima is a veteran in the family sedan segment. Currently in its third generation and designed by Peter Schreyer, the 2015 Kia Optima looks better than ever. Styled aggressively, the Optima wears a mean mug with the trademark Tiger Nose grille, sharp LED integrated headlights and revised fog lamps. The rear end of the Optima receives more distinctive LED tail lights, a neat rear diffuser and a more prominent bootlid.

Feels

A marriage of leather and plastic (where the latter is more dominant), gives birth to the brilliantly styled driver oriented dashboard of the 2015 Kia Optima. With piano black trim running along the centre console, chrome outlines and a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, the driver’s seat is a pleasant place to be. With legroom measuring in at 1,155 mm front and 880 mm rear, the Optima can comfortably transport 5 people from point A to B with an unparalleled view of the city through its large panoramic roof.

Engineering

When travelling with that special someone, the interior mood lighting and cooled glove box are sure to be a plus point. The door panels illuminate in a red hue to create a soothing ambience at night, while  the glove box is ideal for storing a few refreshments. To top it all off, both the driver and front passenger seats are ventilated for enhanced comfort. Warm or cool air is blown through the seat and backrest cushions, preventing perspiration build up on hot days and keeping you cosy on the cooler ones.

What’s on offer?

The ultra aggressive exterior isn’t exactly matched with fire breathing performance under the hood. The 2015 Kia Optima packs a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine that is capable of sending 163 horsepower and 194 Nm of torque to the front wheels. The beefier 2.4 litre engine puts out 178 horsepower and 231 Nm of torque while being mated to a 6 speed transmission. Driving enjoyment is further enhanced through the use of paddle shifters and the Drive Mode Selector placed on the steering wheel that allows the driver to choose between Normal, Eco and Sport modes.

Summing it…

With its aggressive styling, practicality, list of endless features and price tag ranging from AED 65,900 – AED 101,900, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t consider the 2015 Optima when looking for a comfortable car to get around town.
