Review Summary:

The XTS is a full-size luxury sedan produced by the American manufacturer and is a relatively new entrant in the market. Though it looks good and has what it takes to impress, majority of the population will still resort to the BMW or Audi showroom for their luxury rollers, simply because of their preconceived notions.

Pros

The XTS definitely has a fresh and agressive look to it
It's a lot cheaper than its competitors

Cons

Won't be easy to convince to people to opt for this instead of their favorite German luxury sedan.

Looks

Following in the footsteps of its younger siblings, the ATS and CTS, the XTS follows Cadillac’s design DNA quite strictly. The large grille, taut expression and pronounced head lamps, coupled with striking creases along the side, are enough to prove that the American is here to shake things up. Quite frankly, it’s good to see some innovative design in an otherwise rather dull and unimaginative segment of the market.

Feels

Alcantara on the headliner; plush leather on the seats, centre armrest and doorpanels; a scattering of grain wood finishing around the interior, and the beautiful Cadillac centre console to top it all off, what more could you ask for? A few minutes in the spacious rear seats that offer 40 inches of legroom,  is all it takes to realize just how roomy and well built, the cabin really is.

Engineering

The Bose sound system fitted in the XTS is quite unique, really. Sure, it’s got 14 speakers which are enough to give you that concert hall performance, but it’s got two personal surround sound speakers fitted atop both the driver and front passenger seat as well, which take the experience of in-car entertainment to levels not all have experienced before.

What’s on offer?

The American beauty is powered by a 3.6 litre normally aspirated V6 engine which is mated to a 6 speed transmission and puts out a respectable 304 horsepower. The Twin Turbo treatment that the V-Sport version receives, bumps the power up to an almost ridiculous 410 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The Magnetic Ride Control further enhances the drive by scanning the road ahead 1,000 times per second and automatically adjusting the suspension.

Verdict

The 2015 Cadillac XTS is extremely pleasing to the eye, is filled with features, and stands with pride beside its German counterparts. With a starting price of AED 245,000, it’s an absolute steal, because it’s significantly less than the Audi A8 and the 7-Series. Now all that’s left to change, is your perception.
