Review Summary:

Built in Michigan, the ATS is the smallest model in the brand’s line-up and slots in below the larger CTS. The competition consists of the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4, however from the looks of it, the ATS hasn’t got anything to be worried about.

* Exterior design is simply phenomenal.
* Interior finishing is brilliant, with leather and wood trim covering nearly ever aspect of the cabin.
* Powerful choices of engines are up on offer.

* Cramped rear seats won't make the backbenchers very happy.

The BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 are by no means unattractive, but line them up beside the 2015 Cadillac ATS and the American just stands out, like a splash of fluorescent pink paint would on a completely black wall.  With stylish LED’s integrated into the headlamps, a taut expression, beautiful ascending contours running along the sides, and an aggressively designed rear, Cadillac has used all the right ingredients to create an absolute stunner.

Right off the bat, the interior of the Cadillac is heaps better than its competitors. It isn’t uninteresting like that of the Bimmer or as bland as that of the Audi. Instead, it’s got flowing lines that house between them, leather, wood trim and capacitive touch switches along the centre stack. Granted, it’s a bit tight in the back, and even more so in form, but hey, you can’t have everything, right?

Aerodynamic innovations in the ATS include active aero grille shutters and inconspicuous underbody aero shields that smoothly direct air around and under the body for maximum fuel efficiency and minimum wind noise in the cabin.

What’s on offer?

The 2.5 litre 4 cylinder direct injection engine is mated to a 6 speed transmission and sends an impressive 202 horsepower to the rear wheels. But to really feel what the ATS is all about and make full use of the standard Brembo brakes, it’s the 321 horsepower V6 variant you’d want to go for.

Summing it…

Opting for the Cadillac ATS over the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 is almost a no-brainer. It’s better equipped, faster, and a lot better looking. So there isn’t much left to say except, Sayonara Germans. To get your hands on an ATS Sedan, however, you’d have to be willing to shell out anywhere between AED 137,000 – 185,000. Opt for the sleeker Coupe, and you’d have to dig a little deeper, as it costs AED 194,000 to own.
