Review Summary:

The is a that has been around since 2009 and is built on the same GM Lamda Platform, that underpins the GMC Acadia. Competitors for the Traverse include its brother, the GMC Acadia, and its distant relative, the Ford Explorer.

Pros

* Exterior design helps the American SUV stand out.
* Interior layout is neat and clutter free.

Cons

* Lack of engine choices mean if it's a Traverse you're after, it's the 3.6 litre engine you have to settle for.

Looks

Having undergone a facelift in 2013, the 2015 model doesn’t sport too many exterior updates. However, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because with ample amounts of chrome, creased headlights and a smiling fascia, the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse looks like it’s enjoying a hearty laugh. Towards the rear end, the blackened out, nearly cup like tail lamps do borrow subtle hints from the Camaro, and the pentagon shaped rear windshield does do its fair share to add some personality to the rear end.

Feels

With a well laid out two tone dashboard, coupled with dashes of silver trim, soft touch materials and chrome piping around the instrument panel, the American SUV does impress. With the capacity to seat 7 individuals with head and leg room to spare, roof mounted rear A/C vents and rear seat entertainment along with two USB ports, comfort is something that can be taken for granted in the Traverse.

Engineering

The 2015 Chevrolet Traverse packs in a few intelligent tricks up its sleeves. For starters, with a single hand movement, the second row seats move out of the way for convenient access to the full-size third row seat. Moreover, for the techies, the Traverse also allows pictures that are on a phone or USB device to be viewed on the 6.5 inch high resolution display in the centre of the dashboard while the car is in park.

What’s on offer?

The Traverse is powered by a 3.6 litre V6 unit that produces 281 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque while being mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. With a starting price of AED 125,000 the Traverse definitely gives you enough bang for your buck, but if it’s the wood trim, tan leather seats, captain chairs in the second row, DVD player and bigger wheels you’re after, you’ll have to shed out an eye-watering AED 179,000.

Summing it…

With a price tag that is significantly lower than its competition, the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse does have a reason to strut the streets with that cheeky smirk on its face.
