Review Summary:

Currently in its fifth generation, the 2015 Camaro is back and it isn't going to let competitors from Ford and Dodge enjoy the pie all by themselves.

Pros

* Supercharged engine in the ZL1 produces insane horsepower figures
* Good to see safety hasn't taken a backseat in the Camaro.

Cons

* Soft, elegant exterior design makes calling the Camaro a muscle car slightly difficult

Looks

The designers of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro seemed to have been inspired by all things horizontal. With a slimmer grille and longer headlamps compared to the previous generation model, outlined by a slender piece of chrome, and wrap around LED tail lamps, the Chevrolet Camaro no longer looks like the macho beefcake it previously did.

Feels

A tug of the long doors and the low slung seats, revised steering with improved thumb support, improved instrument cluster, and reworked gauges placed in front of the gear lever, come into view. Though comfort is standard for the driver and front seat passenger with six-way power adjustable seats, the same cannot be said for occupants cramped in the rear seats.

Engineering

If you thought Chevrolet skimped on the safety features because the Camaro is a muscle car, you’d be very wrong. The customisable Head-Up Display (HUD) allows the driver to keep both hands on the steering and both eyes on the road, while all the necessary information is projected onto the windscreen. In the event of a collision, six standard airbags also help protect heads, chests and knees of those seated in the vehicle.

What’s on offer?

Catering to those who enjoy the wind as it ruffles their hair, the 2015 Camaro is available as a or a . The basic LT version houses a 3.6 litre V6 engine under the hood that produces 323 horsepower and 377 Nm of torque. However, since that isn’t very muscle car like, the Camaro is also available with a 6.2 litre V8 engine that spits out 426 horsepower in SS guise and a whopping 580 tire shredding horses in ZL1 skin.

Summing it…

The technology in the Camaro is impressive, no doubts. But it no longer looks as aggressive as it should, and calling it a muscle car is something I can only do hesitantly. So when Chevrolet puts a starting price tag of AED 134,000 on the 2015 Camaro, I ask myself why, because the iconic Mustang is a lot cheaper!
