’s third-generation B-segment vehicle highlights a significant step forward for the company since the Getz was first introduced in the early noughties. Making its debut at the 2014 in October, the longer, lower, and wider New Generation i20 is set to enter production during the same month.

On the New Generation i20, a striking hexagonal grille flows into stylish bi-function headlamps with LED daytime running lights and flaunts a character that is inspired by the brand’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy.

Sitting on a new platform, the wheelbase has been extended by 45 millimetres to 2,570 mm; interior space and boot space have both been increased as well, to 1,892mm and 326 litres respectively. According to Hyundai, the New Generation i20 is now what classifies as a true five-seater.

Under the hood, engines from the previous model have been carried over – the tried and tested 1.25 and 1.4 litre Kappa units. Churning out 85 horsepower, the former channels power through a five speed manual transmission as standard, whereas the more powerful 1.4 litre produces 25 horsepower more and directs power to the front wheels through a four speed auto-box.
