Land Rover Discovery Sport Revealed!

We’ve waited anxiously and our patience has paid off, for has pulled the wraps off the highly anticipated Discovery Sport. Revealed digitally at Spaceport America in New Mexico, the Discovery Sport has been worth all the hype created prior to its launch. Featuring a breadth of all-terrain capability for which has earned its reputation, the Discovery Sport SUV is indeed a versatile and capable compact SUV.

The first member of the new Discovery family, the Discovery Sport features 5+2 seating in a footprint no larger than existing 5-seat premium SUVs. Borrowing bits and pieces from other models in the line-up, the Discovery Sport welcomes circular rings in the headlamps which get mirrored into the tail lamps, a honeycomb grille, and an ascending window line that runs parallel to the crease in the bodywork.

Inside, it’s unmistakably a Land Rover, with its rotary knob gear shifter, clutter free dashboard, and use of high quality materials all around. Storage solutions are integrated into the cabin and up to four 12V power points and six USB charging sockets can be specified for all three rows of seating, allowing multiple electronic devices to be charged simultaneously.

Coupled with supple long-travel suspension, the all-new multi-link rear axle also ensures the Discovery Sport is comfortable, refined and rewarding to drive on-road, while being able to tackle the less travelled paths effortlessly. In fact, with approach, departure and breakover angles of 25, 31 and 21 degrees respectively, Terrain Response technology, and the ability to wade in waters of up to 600mm, the Discovery Sport offers class-leading capability in all conditions.

At launch the Discovery Sport will be equipped with a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines. Featuring stop-start technology, high-pressure direct injection, low-friction internal components and smart regenerative charging, the Discovery Sport offers great performance without compromising efficiency. Both 9-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions are available, along with a choice of two- or four-wheel-drive.

The will be produced at the brand’s award-winning manufacturing facility at Halewood, Liverpool. It goes on sale in early 2015 alongside the existing seven-seat Land Rover Discovery in over 170 markets worldwide.

      Good Morning Saeid,

      Currently the Land Rover Discovery Sport is only available with a 2.0 litre engine, which puts out 237 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque.

      Prices as stated in the article, start from AED 159,000.
