Review Summary:

While the may sound like an ultra-cool name that the American marque has given to its latest offering, the truth dates back to the 1960’s. Starting its life out as a full-size vehicle, the Dart remained a prominent nameplate up until production was stopped in 1976. Today, it resurfaces as a C-segment offering and faces competition from its Japanese cousins, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

Pros

The 2014 Dodge Dart is well equipped and well priced.

Cons

Design probably wouldn't go down very well with the older / more mature crowd.

Combine headlights that follow the silhouette of bullets with a blacked out mesh grille and a hood that flaunts tapered contours, and you arrive at the aggressive mug of the 2014 Dodge Dart. With creases along its bodywork, fast sloping C-pillars and racetrack inspired tail lights, the Dart wastes no time in telling you that it means business right from the get-go.

Targeted at the youth who are after something sportier than what the Japanese currently offer, the 2014 Dodge Dart welcomes splashes of red LED’s along the dashboard and door panels, in conjunction with red stitching along the well bolstered seats and dashes of Alcantara around the cabin. With seating space for yourself and three of your mates, the Dart offers a certain “cool” factor that neither the Mazda3, nor the Corolla currently posses.

Well endowed in the safety features department, the 2014 Dodge Dart packs in advanced multi-stage air bags, full-length side-curtain air bags, seat-mounted side-thorax airbags, driver knee air bag, rain brake support and tire-pressure monitoring; in addition to ready alert braking and hill-start assist.

Powered by a 1.4 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that churns out 160 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and 250 Nm of torque at 4,000 RPM, the Dodge Dart dispatches a 0 – 100 km/h run in a reasonable 8.6 seconds. Sending power through a 6 speed automatic transmission, the American sedan can either cruise while sipping 6.5 litres for every 100 kilometres, or sprint to its 190 km/h top speed. The choice is yours…

[tab name=”Verdict”]

Falling into a price band of AED 60,000 to AED 74,000, the Dodge Dart is perfectly in line with the Toyota Corolla that falls into the same band. The Civic on the other hand, is significantly more expensive with a starting price of AED 72,000 and a top of the line price of AED 87,000. So if you’re young, want a car that will make you stand out and is economical, yet pleasing to drive, then you can’t go wrong with the 2014 Dodge Dart. This one is for the young ‘uns!
