Review Summary:

The Cayenne is proving to be a popular choice for those in the mid-sized SUV market, but as more and more versions become available, choosing the right one is getting harder and harder.

Pros

Comfortable and good range of models

Cons

Looks are good, if a little dated. Limited standard features.

The 2014 remains relatively un-touched for this year. It is fast becoming one of Porsche’s most popular sellers in the Gulf region, primarily due to its appearance. The curves and flowing body make it one of the prettiest SUV’s on the market.

Inside, the Cayenne feels like an SUV and has not been infused with sporting architecture. The centre console is lower down and the driving position high up. It’s comfortable and spacious and high-end materials have been appointed all over.

The Cayenne comes with an active all-wheel drive system, which features an electronically variable, map-controlled multi-plate clutch, an automatic brake differential and anti-slip regulation. In conjunction with Porsche Stability Management, PTM ensures the equal distribution of torque to all four wheels. Not bad for a luxury SUV!

As you would expect there are myriad Cayenne’s on offer; 10 to be precise. You can enter the brand for AED 254,000, which will see you drive away with a Platinum Edition model. With 300hp and a top speed of 230kp/h you can’t really go wrong, although the standard options are limited. At the top of the scale we have the Turbo S, which for AED 631,500 comes with plenty of goodies and styling tweaks, such as larger alloy wheels. Astonishingly it produces 550hp and can reach 100kp/h in 4.5 seconds.

[tab name=”Verdict”]

The Cayenne was a bold move from Porsche over a decade ago, and in that time the styling hasn’t been updated too much; yet still sales world wide are doing well. It certainly fits the image of the UAE, as luxury SUV’s continue to remain popular. The entry model is very reasonably priced considering its brand, so it’s a good alternative to a Range Rover Sport for sure!
